Pasta di Spoon My Food
Spaghetti, penne and tagliatelle. I absolutely love pasta! That’s why, this week’s recipe is a pasta dish that you can make for yourself, your family and friends. When I’m craving pasta, I want to make it at home instead of eating it in a restaurant. I haven’t come across a lot of places where I think the pasta tastes better than home. The sauce can be to watery, or the seasoning just isn’t perfect to my taste. I like spices and I like heat. However, at Vapiano’s , there is one pasta dish I absolutely love: Spaghetti with tomato-mozzarella sauce and pine nuts. I always get the same dish when I eat there. Yummy! And when I like a dish in a restaurant, I use it as an inspiration for my own dish so I can enjoy it in the comforts of my own home.
A couple of years ago, I invited my cousin Cynthia to come over at my place for a warm winter dinner. I had already told her that I would be making pasta. Of course for this dish, she was absolutely willing to travel 3 hours with the train, tram and bus. Realizing this, I had to prepare the best pasta dish ever of course! Cynthia always eats in very small portions. I say, she eats like a bird. However, I saw her eyes getting bigger (while she already has big eyes) when she glanced at the spaghetti and somehow I knew that she would not be eating like a sparrow that evening. At the end of the evening she was so full, she asked me to roll her to the train station. I dropped her off at the stop, so she would not roll over! A very successful dinner memory we reminisce often..
Lovely tip: Olive oil with garlic and pepper
Extra virgin olive oil tastes wonderful on a piece of baguette, ciabatta, a pizza, a salad and you know it: on your pasta dish. I really like olive oil with an extra taste of garlic and chili peppers. Therefore, I bought a little bottle of olive oil and upgraded it with a couple of garlic cloves and fresh cut red peppers. Home olive oil with a twist for your favorite dish!
