Everybody loves a good chocolate spread on their toast. Adding strawberries to these toasts makes me extremely happy! However lots of these spreads are made with milk so children and people who are lactose intolerant and/or vegan can’t enjoy chocolate toasts and sandwiches. Therefore, I decided to make my own vegan chocolate spread that will definitely be devoured by vegans as well as non vegans!
Revealing the secret ingredient!
The one thing I really loved about this spread is that it was so easy and quick to prepare. My plan was to bake a cake when I entered my kitchen that morning. I had bought something I was eager to use again in my cake because it added so much flavor to the batter last time I used it. What is it? Well, the most delicious ingredient and the secret one in this spread (and my cakes) is *drumrolls* : condensed coconut milk!
I’ll tell you a a little sinful secret of mine if you promise you won’t tell anyone: Sometimes I just open up the can of condensed coconut milk to take some out and lick the spoon! (Don’t tell anyone, you promised! ) I was planning to take out a spoon and then bake something when suddenly I felt like mixing it with cocoa to make it chocolatey. My fridge also contained some dairy free butter. Whilst mixing the butter with cocoa, and condensed milk, I saw that the consistency was so beautifully smooth and the flavor was so rich! Obviously I had to make a chocolate spread for my toast!
Because I really love chocolate with nuts, I crushed some nuts and toasted these along with some almond pieces. I added the nuts to the spread and kept licking that spoon! Really, I am happy with the delicious outcome. Read on for some easy peasy and lovely chocolatey goodness!
